My first dog grew out of it as he aged, as did my second. Both rottie/retriever mixes they started snuggling and carrying them around instead of de-stuffing them. The Husky seems to not be losing the zeal of tearing into it, pulling off bits and killing the squeaker (she's a wild princess). We only buy clearance toys, $2 or less on average. However we don't limit ourselves to only dog toys. Any stuffed object is game so long as it can be supervised and safely made. KONGs, Planet Dog balls, and other "chew" toys fair reasonably well. Raw bones get gnawed til their jaws are sore. And our almost "indestructible" ball has some teeth marks on the plug, but was bought with my first dog and is now 15yrs old, having outlasted its first owner. It lives outside year round and even the thaw/freeze cycle doesn't hurt it. Best money I ever spent on a dog toy. Ours is the size of a basketball.Angela Wattshttp://iheartmaine.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5033899566570421594.post-35251309938923561342013-03-22T20:58:31.283-07:002013-03-22T20:58:31.283-07:00Braylon loves babies but doesn't destroy them ...Braylon loves babies but doesn't destroy them to the level she once did even six months ago. Hades has lost interest. He gets excited to see a toy and then won't touch it after he picks it up initially. All toys used to be lost in battles of tug but now it's just Braylon by herself. Madden is a toy eating machine. It used to be terrible. Back when she was integrated in with our two we'd wake up every other night to the sound of her about to throw up. We had her "puke trained" she'd literally go to the door and throw up outside, that's how routine it was. (We supervised her toy play and tried not to let her ingest anything but somehow it always happened. It occurs much less now.) I'm not sure if I ever mentioned that. Sad, disgusting and hilarious all in one!Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02650445910092342851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5033899566570421594.post-22730327842974943022013-03-20T19:18:49.026-07:002013-03-20T19:18:49.026-07:00Maggie like to pick, once she picked her entire bi...Maggie like to pick, once she picked her entire big dog bed overnight. The best deal we found was a PetSmart Christmas stocking pack of toys, most of which we still have.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5033899566570421594.post-26800117962458795672013-03-18T17:47:10.703-07:002013-03-18T17:47:10.703-07:00Toby always rips off the tag, then he finds the we...Toby always rips off the tag, then he finds the weak spot and opens up a hole. Once the hole is open we have to de-stuff it because he WILL try to eat the fluff. He's only allowed certain "indestructible" and other tough toys because of this. We have found a select few that hold up reasonably well. Kong wubbas (including the wubba animals) hold up pretty well. We also bought him some Tuffies, but we have to get the ones rated a "9" or "10" on their tough scale. Even these we end up taking the stuffing out of eventually, but it takes longer to get to that point (days to weeks instead of seconds to minutes). If he was like Athena and didn't try to eat the stuffing, I'd try your idea of getting the cheap ones too!
