Of course when we saw a display of Doggles at Paws On the Sand in Lincoln City, we knew that we needed some to add to Athena's wardrobe. After a quick fitting session in the store, we picked out a pair and Athena started sporting them as soon as we hit the beach. As a side note, I was rooting for a hot pink pair like Miss M, but B won the battle and we went with the always matching 'black.'
We love Doggles because they are great for protecting sensitive doggy eyes from the bright sun, keeping sand out of eyes, as well as acting as goggles while swimming in the ocean. Doggles actually contain 100% UV protection, because just like humans, dogs need eye protection from the sun too. I even tried on Athena's Doggles to see how dark they are. They are very comparable to human sunglasses and in no way hindered my vision.
Although the Doggles are equipped with a flexible padded rubber frame that fit snuggly to Athena's face, she still managed to get a bit of sand inside of them. We made sure to continuously check her Doggles to ensure that she still had full vision.
While out on the beach I was amazed at how many people approached us just because Athena was wearing Doggles and no longer looked "scary." Because really, who couldn't resist a dog wearing Doggles? They are HILARIOUS! Multiple people wanted to take Athena's picture and some even wanted her to pose for pictures with their children. I'm telling you...Doggles make a pit bull FAMOUS!
I love them, Athena does look really cute in them! Hmmm... I wonder what Boomer and Dottie would think of wearing them...
ReplyDeleteSo...where's the picture of YOU wearing them?
ReplyDelete;)
HAHAHAHA...I should have documented myself wearing them! Maybe I will try them on again and send you a pic!
DeleteAthena is so cute in or out of her Doggles. I just started reading your blog a couple of weeks ago and have already decided that I need to get both Doggles and the coat for my Pittie, Chloe. I'm thinking of starting my own blog soon and have really been loving yours. When I get started I may contact to ask a couple of questions because I really like your style. We're in Portland too, maybe we'll see you on the Pit Bull Walk some time soon. Thx, Kelli & Chloe
ReplyDelete=) Thanks for checking out our blog! E-mail me with any questions: pitlandiapooch@gmail.com
DeleteHopefully we will see you at the next Portland Pit Bull Parade!!
We had them when my Cisco went blind. They were great for protecting her eyes and attracting people to her. Have you seen the ones that look like cop glasses? We have a set for Sam that are equally cute!
ReplyDeleteSam
I've heard that they are great for dogs who have gone blind or for dogs with some medical issues.
DeleteI haven't seen the ones that look like cop glasses. I need to look those up!!
So cute! Did she mind wearing them? I can't picture my dogs leaving them on their faces.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't mind wearing them too much...sometimes she does try to take them off, but we distract her and she usually forgets that she didn't want to wear them anymore =)
DeleteWith all of these adorable dogs getting doggles, it's only a matter of time before Turkey gets super jealous and feels the need to get a pair for himself! Although we really don't have many places where he would NEED them... the point is looking cool like Mr. B, Ms. M, and Athena so...
ReplyDeleteYep, it's all about looking cool! We really don't need Doggles at this time of year in Portland...but we were just trying to be cool! =)
DeleteI love dog doggle photos! I can stare at them for an alarmingly long time! The kids in our neighborhood love when Melvin wears his although he is not the biggest fan of having them on! Love how cute these photos are!
ReplyDeleteCurious...what size did you get for your pibbles? Medium or Large?
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance!
