The Leaking Sky O-Shin: As Told By Athena

Hi guys!  Athena here.  Recently I've been noticing that the outside has been changing and I don't really know how I feel about it.  It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was basking in the sun on the beach and tromping through the big bathtub o-shin.  Well, as far as I can tell, I think the big bathtub o-shin followed us back home and started to leak from the sky.

Mom, please call the plumber.  The sky o-shin is leaking again!
All of a sudden the sun started hiding behind gray sky pillows and buckets of water keeps dumping on my head every stinkin' time I go outside.  I used to take advantage of the fresh air during outside potty time.  Now I go as quickly as possible and sprint to the front door to get back inside to my cozy warm bed!

Sometimes my parents make me go on walks while the sky o-shin is leaking.  Luckily they always let me wear my raincoat, so I don't complain too much.  I do insist on a good towel rub down and paw wipe as soon as I reenter the house though.  Mom says she is on the hunt for a rain jacket with a hood and some doggy boots.  I think I would like that because I don't like to feel water logged after my walks.

Wish I had a pair of rain booties to protect my sensitive paws!
When the plumber comes by and fixes the sky o-shin leak every couple of days, we get to go outside and play more.  Last week my mom and dad took me to a biiiiiiig forest called Powell Butte.  They said we were going for a hike.

Can you spot Athena?
I loved the big forest because it was filled with some of my favorite things: crunchy yellow leaves, plants for sniffing, and the occasional doggy friend walking by.  While walking through the forest my mom said that my brindle furs looked camo-flodge.  She tried to explain that I blend in with my surroundings.  I guess this means that it's really starting to look like fall in Portland.

It's starting to look like fall!
After mom took some camo-flodge pictures, she told my dad to put a leaf on my head for a silly picture. I showed them what was funny.  I snatched that crunchy leaf right out of my dad's hand and started eating it as my afternoon snack.  Leaves are one of my favorite snacks, especially the big yellow ones that crawl on the ground when the wind blows.

Yummy leaf snack!
So, I've decided that even though the sky o-shin has been leaking, I really like the fall.  Mom says it's her favorite time of year, so I guess it will be mine too.  What do you guys think of the fall?

Love, Athena

    1. My parents got it from a pet palace (pet store) in Portland called Green Dog Pet Supply:

It is made by a company called DoodleBug Duds. They sell the coats online at their website for a very reasonable price!

  2. Athena - tell your mom and dad to call the plumber to fix the sky ocean! Sheesh! Don't they know your beautiful brindle furs shouldn't be getting wet?! What are they thinking?!

    1. I know Emi-wee, I try to tell them these things, but they just don't listen! I wish you would come back to Portland so that we could snuggle in the backseat some more =)

  3. My pups hate walking when the sky is leaking too:( Except if it means running in the mud, then everything is alright:D We forgot my mom's dog was outside the other night and didn't realize it started to rain, I ran out to get her and she didn't even want to come in! But she wears a long fur coat 24/7. It's not as cute as Athena'a!

    1. Luckily the rain here hasn't made the ground too muddy yet, so we haven't experienced whether or not Athena will enjoy romping through the mud!

      I hope not... =)

  4. We love the fall - here in AZ it is too hot to do much in the summer, so the cooler weather is very welcome!

  5. Ray hates going out in the rain, too...kind of. If you open the back door and it is raining he just stands and looks out. If you say, "Do you need an umbrella?" he wooo-wooos until you get one then he will go outside, even though he doesn't actually stay under cover...but there's an umbrella out there!

  6. My pups love fall because that means no more walking in 100 degree weather at the crack of dawn, or walks that are cut short. They haven't tried to eat leaves yet... just grass. Don't let Athena give them any ideas! ;)
